Kauai Fun Vacations

Reasonably priced Kauai hotel with a great pool?

My husband and I are taking an anniversary trip to Kauai. We can't decide which hotel to choose. We'd prefer something romantic with as few screaming kids as possible! A hotel on the beach, although we don't need beach front rooms. We don't want the most expensive, nor do we want the cheapest. An in room fridge and microwave are essential, and a kitchenette or condo even better. Here's the deciding factor- we want a great pool. Not the typical rectangle concrete pool. It is essential that the pool have waterfalls and a relatively natural feel with rocks, good landscaping etc. Waterslides and a winding river would be great. The best pools appear to be the Grand Hyatt (out of our price range) and the Outrigger Waipouli but some hotels don't have good photos to compare with. The Outrigger is in our range, but I've read that the hotel location and some rooms' views are crappy. Can anyone with first hand experience recommend a really cool pool hotel with a moderate price? Just to clarify, we are looking in the $250-$300 a night range. The Outrigger Waipouli sounds great and is almost ideal for us. We love the look of the rooms and pool, but I've read that it is in a noisy, crowded area. We'd just like to find something comparable with a similarly creative pool and three stars that is in a less busy location. We don't need a private pool, we'd just prefer a couples oriented/ romantic hotel over a kid friendly one.

  1. Tourism is major income for Hawaii, so hotel is very expensive, but you can rent a vacation home for $1000 per week. You can get 3.5-star hotel in Lihue - Kapaa for $150, but you want to quiet, pool with waterfall for two people only, you are expect to pay $500 per night.
  2. Check out this site called http://www.cheaphotel-s.com Its search covers 30 over sites with 700,000 hotels. All the best.
  3. not sure when you are going but there are a few hotels in that range that i found. we stayed at the kauai marriott resort and beach club for $289 and loved it (great pool). we visited many other hotels just to check them out too. you could also check out the hilton kauai beach resort and sheraton kauai resort. to cut through the deals, you should check out http://www.travelcusehotels.com to book your stay. the site is an aggregator which means it takes offers from various online sites and shows you the best deals. good luck!
