Kauai Fun Vacations

I am visiting Maui and Kauai In November. Would it be possible for me to travel to Pearl Harbor.?

The flight I have schedule is stopping in Honolulu. I was wondering if there would be a place at the airport where I can leave my luggage instead of renting a car. Also, I've heard that flights between islands are cheap however, all the flights I find are about 120 dollars one way. Is that was people consider inexpensive or are there cheaper options?

  1. I'm afraid not, but check to see about any boats that may ferry back and forth. I know they have them, but don't know how much they are. Have FUN!!
  2. We had the same problem when we went to Kauai. The flights between islands were at least $100.00 one-way, we couldn't find any place at Honolulu International Airport where we could store our luggage briefly, and we didn't feel like renting a car just to go to Pearl Harbor either. We ended up skipping it. Sorry I can't be more help...
  3. Any one of four inter island air carriers: Aloha Air, Hawaiian Air, Go Air, or Island Air. However, this just in from Pacific Business News (http://www.bizjournals.com/pacific/stori... The interisland airline Go! reposted its $29 one-way fares last week. There may be black out dates however. Last week Mesa Air Group reported that go!'s load factor had fallen to about three quarters full in August. Interisland air capacity is up significantly -- more than 10 percent -- from the same time last year, due to three factors: (1) a substantial expansion of Island Air, whose smaller aircraft now fly more routes than either Hawaiian or Aloha as they serve routes most of which are not served by the larger carriers; (2) the launch of go! with frequent service between Honolulu and the four major interisland destinations of Lihue, Kahului, Kona and Hilo; and (3) an expansion of Hawaiian and Aloha service to those same destinations in an effort to prevent go! from wresting market share from the legacy carriers. So, for the time being, there appears to be a price war going on among these three concerning inter-island airfares. Aloha and good luck!
  4. If I wanted to do what you have in mind, I'd rent a car for about $50. Pearl Harbor is just a few miles northwest of the airport. If you buy a ticket to another island with a long stop over in Honolulu, check most of your bags through and let the airline store your luggage. You will need several hours for this side trip. Though Pearl Harbor is only twenty minutes or so from the airport, it takes a while to get the car. Also commute traffic can be very heavy so avoid rush hour. Expense is relative. I know bargains are available for inter-island flights but never at the time I needed. But you are there in Hawaii and a hundred dollars or so shouldn't be a deal breaker.
  5. I don't think TSA will allow you to leave your luggage at the airport. You might have to check the bags in with your airline first, then go to Pearl Harbor. Airfare is not cheap. Two new carriers started up and have dropped prices (temporarily). The low prices ($29 o/w) may come with many restrictions such as time of departure, length of stay, etc. Check on-line. Don't leave your things in the rental car's trunk. Thieves LOVE to break into rental cars and there is a lot of crime in Hawaii. I would discourage you from traveling by boat. It will take hours and the ocean will probably rough in November. Fly. Your stomach will thank me. Good luck!
  6. no
  7. You could take a bus to pearl harbor but it takes forever. a cab would be very pricey. I would rent a car. please keep in mind that depending on how busy it is --allow about 4.5 hours as you watch a short film, then take a ferry to the memorial. . . that may be too much time but give yourself a good cushion of time. best of luck
